The fact is there have not been a lot of medical studies about the effects of electronic cigarettes. Evidence does point to them being more safe than smoking cigarettes, but they could still be harmful. The biggest concern is that they will be marketed towards children and teenagers and create a lot of new nicotine addictions.
The bottom line is that whatever that will help you quit smoking real cigarettes is worth a shot. Are electronic cigarettes safe? Unfortunately we don't have 100% answers on that, but everyone does agree they are safer than tobacco. If you are going to use them, make sure your intention is to quit smoking completely.
